Marriage Savers - Preparation
This ministry prepares seriously dating and engaged couples for potential marriage through several significant steps.
- Completion of a couple information form & possible interview with a pastor or lay leader from the church.
- Attend an 8-week premarital class “Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts” (taught by Larry & Sharon Klein);
- And/or: Following an interview with Pat & Cissi Hickerson (who oversee the mentoring option), they will assign to you a mentoring couple. They will come alongside you through 6-7 mentoring sessions working through a relationship inventory called FOCCUS while utilizing a Marriage Savers guidebook.

About Larry & Sharon Klein
Larry and Sharon Klein have been married 33 years. Larry is currently teaching PE in Jamul. Sharon is a special education teacher in La Mesa. They have two daughters, both working at and attending Azusa Pacific University. Melissa, 25, is married and working on her Master's Degree in Ministry Management. Amy, 21, will be a senior majoring in psychology. The Klein’s have been involved in small group ministry, having had a small group meet in their home for most of the 22 years they have attended Skyline Church. They have been pre-marital mentors with Marriage Savers for 6 years. They have a passion for helping couples establish a strong Christian relationship and marital foundation before they marry.
About Pat & Cissi Hickerson
Pat and Cissi have been married for 32 years. They have two daughters, Sarah and Erin, both married and they have one grandchild Warren-Patrick. Pat is a Hardware Test Engineer and Cissi is an Instructional Aide for Cajon Valley. The Hickerson's have been involved in Home Groups as leaders and host, they spent over 12 years in Middle School Ministry serving in various roles including small group leadership and camp counselors. They have been involved in pre-marital mentoring for 4 years. Their desire is that every couple that enters in to marriage be given the tools necessary for a Christ-centered life-long union.
