One Year Intensive – Enriching Your Marriage

Do you need more out of your marriage?
Does your marriage feel like a “business partnership” where the once loving feelings have dissipated?
donPastor Don Welch is offering a second “2 Becoming One” church Connect class in a practically-based and slow-paced format. You’ll have opportunity to apply useful relational skills, discuss important questions pertaining to your relationship, and potentially overcome roadblocks leading to a vibrant relationship. Space is limited to 35 couples.
PowerPoint slides, fill-in-the-blank booklet (including current references, and engaging video segments from respected relationship experts) will guide this one-year intensive class. You will participate with a coalition of two other churches: Shadow Mountain Community Church & North Coast Calvary Chapel. Both churches are conducting a similar class.
Additional handouts, including the DISC Personality Temperament profile (a tool widely used in corporate America), will be integrated into each session as well. Dr. Welch, a certified interpreter of the DISC, will assist participants in strengthening their relationship as they integrate this tool into their marriage. This church Connect class will be a unique experience and will create fantastic opportunities for couples to engage at the deepest levels!

There are proven ways to give you “marriage insurance” by proper preparation before the wedding, learning skills that can strengthen existing marriages, and reconstructing even severely troubled ones. Divorce is not the answer!

  1. Half of all marriages today will fail even though 85% of all marriage ceremonies involve the church.
  1. The number of unmarried couples has soared twelve fold from 430,000 in 1960 to over 5.3 million now.
  1. Most younger Americans now spend some time living together outside of marriage, and unmarried cohabitation commonly precedes marriage. Unfortunately, for couples who live together before marriage, many will never marry, and 75% of those who do marry will end in divorce.
  1. There have been 42 million divorces since 1970, shattering the lives of 40 million children. One quarter of all adults, ages 18 – 35, have grown up in divorced families.
  1. In only 10% of second marriages do both partners reconstruct happier lives—even 10 years after divorce.
  1. 90% of marriages in crisis, or having severe difficulties, can be restored.
  1.  The United States has both the highest church membership and attendance rate... but also the highest divorce rate in the world.

Here at Skyline, we want to change the reported statistics and build more successful marriages.

Married for 44 years and have three children and six grandchildren
*Involved in ministry for the last 19 years, including teaching a married couples’ Adult Bible Fellowship Class for 10 years and the Premarital Class for 15 years.
